Dragon Raja 3; Chapter 150: The Sea of Hidden Dragons (17)

Dragon Raja 3

A colossal figure emerged in the observation window; it was a black dragon, its long tail undulating through the water. That was the creature that had been struggling in the crack earlier, the Corpse Guardians crafted from a pureblood dragon as described by Lu Mingze. At the last moment, it finally broke free from the seabed. Its golden pupils resembled massive candles, and its decaying body was adorned with ancient armor, layered and interconnected with bronze chains. In the cavity where only ribs remained, swarms of Yamata no Orochi swirled! It turned out that this creature’s body served as the nest for Yamata no Orochi. Like thousands of lanterns igniting at the same moment, those were the eyes of the Yamata no Orochi, awakening the slumbering small fish. An overwhelming dragon pressure flooded the cockpit, capable of destroying the spirit of any normal human. The king among the Corpse Guardians roared silently, its long fangs transparent like crystal.

They had no way to escape now; the Sumeru Throne no longer responded to their calls.

The dragon slowly opened its ribcage, and the Yamata no Orochi poured out, crashing onto the Trieste. It sounded like thousands of silkworms gnawing at mulberry leaves… violently biting. The observation window was filled with the golden eyes of the Yamata no Orochi, and bite marks crisscrossed on the resin glass. Terrifying sounds echoed from all directions; the Yamata no Orochi not only gnawed at the resin glass but also drilled holes in the metal hull. Now, countless Yamata no Orochi swam in the layers between the outer and inner shells, feasting on anything edible, such as optical fiber cables and cushioning materials. Though the outer shell had been compromised, the vast majority of circuits were still operational; at that moment, the lights on the control panel flickered out, and the pressure gauge, water gauge, and ampere meter all dropped to zero, as the Yamata no Orochi devoured everything consumable.

The Trieste was being devoured; the last layer protecting them was the metal inner shell.

“It’s nice to meet you,” Chu Zihang said.

“I’m glad to know you too,” Lu Mingfei murmured. “Actually, I’m happy to know you, boss.”

Caesar was still unconscious.

The observation window shattered, and seawater filled the cockpit with immense pressure. Lu Mingfei felt as if all his ribs had broken, and the air in his lungs searched for any escape route… Thousands of ghost tooth vipers lunged at him as the seawater suddenly turned scalding. Chu Zihang released the King’s Blaze, but not for self-preservation; while burning the vipers, they would also turn to ash. But Chu Zihang’s greatest talent was to perish alongside his enemies, as he had always done.

At that moment, a fierce chill descended from above, forcibly compressing the domain of the King’s Blaze. The King’s Blaze couldn’t be released, equivalent to forcing a bomb that had already begun to explode to compress! Lu Mingfei looked up and saw the luminous blue ice crossbow plummeting with the torrential flow!

The essence of that weapon filled the water, its presence chilling to the bone, carrying a domineering intent to cut through anything! The dragon raised its head, roaring silently, with its massive golden pupils reflecting the shadow of the ice crossbow. This half-dead creature realized the impending doom before it, yet it could do nothing to evade it; it curled up slightly, trembling. The ghosts-toothed vipers ceased their attack, desperately trying to return to the dragon’s enormous body for shelter.

Oxygen deprivation and high pressure could kill them at any moment, but Lu Mingfei surprisingly still retained a last vestige of awareness. He sensed a familiar aura descending from above… as if an old friend were coming.

The ice crossbow pierced the dragon’s spine. The colossal king of the Corpse Guardians could not resist; the ice crossbow dragged it down into the abyss, its powerless long tail trailing in the water. The other Corpse Guardians snapped apart in an instant. This was the second time Lu Mingfei had witnessed such an absolute will to kill, second only to the “Dance of Destruction” of the dragon king Fenrir, a divine judgment upon the world, nailing all sinners to the pillar of shame, offering no chance for resistance or defense. A light figure leaped from the tail of the ice crossbow; the girl wore a red and white miko outfit, her wide sleeves unfurling in the seawater. The band holding her hair came undone, and her long hair flowed like deep red seaweed.

Lu Mingfei instinctively shouted that name… Nono!

He would never forget this scene, even if his vision had grown hazy and unclear. That long hair, brought to mind one of the most unforgettable moments of his life. It was deep within the Three Gorges Reservoir, where Nono had taken off her diving suit to give to him. She wore nothing but a bikini, so alluring and beautiful, her dark red hair dancing in the water. Nono always bossed him around, but that time she was so gentle, her eyes full of encouragement, encouraging him to live. For a useless person, surviving was the greatest effort; he didn’t need to do anything else. When Nono took off her diving suit for him, she probably thought about it like this, right? She must have been scared too, yet she held back, showing Lu Mingfei the most beautiful and gentle gaze.

“Nono! Nono!” Lu Mingfei twisted his body, trying to swim toward her. His consciousness was fading, his mind filled only with visions of dark red hair.

He wanted to open his arms to embrace that figure, completely oblivious to the cruel and merciless gaze directed at him.

“Nono! Nono!” He shouted, disregarding the seawater flooding into his lungs.

The girl drew her cherry-red long knife, pointing it at Lu Mingfei’s forehead. This knife, capable of easily slicing through Corpse Guardians, was aimed directly at him.

“Nono! Nono!” Lu Mingfei didn’t see the knife; he only wanted to swim to that shadow before he died.

Erii’s cold, deathly eyes suddenly shattered, her childish innocence returning to her gaze. The girl looked at Lu Mingfei with curiosity, not with the delight of a familiar reunion, but like a passerby who notices a fool running toward them joyfully, unable to help but feel curious. Lu Mingfei thought he was desperately paddling through the water, but his movements were as clumsy as a little duck splashing about. Erii swam around him like a mermaid, not understanding why this boy suddenly wore a face that seemed to be crying.

Lu Mingfei couldn’t reach that vague shadow; his vision turned completely dark. He thought he might already be dead. As the last breath escaped his lungs, he sank helplessly. At that moment, he was gently embraced.

A diving helmet was placed on his head, oxygen filling his lungs, and Lu Mingfei’s consciousness slightly returned. The lights inside the helmet illuminated his eyes. He strained to see who was holding him, but everything remained blurry. He didn’t know if this girl was Nono; Nono didn’t possess a Yanling, yet this girl’s power surpassed any hybrid he had ever seen. Nono was dignified like a rose, while the girl in his arms had the softness of cherry blossoms. The girl pointed upwards, and Lu Mingfei weakly shook his head, signaling that he couldn’t swim up anymore. There were still hundreds of meters of seawater above, far too much for his remaining strength.

“Don’t die,” the girl’s voice floated into his mind.

“Nono, Nono.” That was the only name he remembered.

“Don’t die,” the girl’s voice echoed again.

The girl released Lu Mingfei and swam upwards. He looked up, watching the red and white miko outfit disappear into the distance.

He strained to look at his hand, which held a yellow rubber duck.

“I won’t die,” he whispered to himself, “because you haven’t… given up on me yet.”
