At that moment, the heavy and searing volcanic walls began to collapse, with massive volcanic rocks plummeting toward the Trieste from half a kilometer above. Originally, the volcanic rocks contained a large number of bubbles and were the only type of rock lighter than water in the world. However, the volcanic rock here was different; in extreme high pressure, it did not contain bubbles. Lu Mingfei looked up through the observation port and saw a black giant rock the size of the Tiananmen Gate rapidly approaching, blocking his entire view.

The Trieste narrowly brushed past the giant rock and continued to ascend.

Lu Mingfei stared at the screen, which displayed images from the external camera showing Takamagahara. This scene was solemn and grand; Takamagahara slid slowly along the sloped seabed towards the river of magma, the last buildings gradually tilting and collapsing, towers snapping in half, and thousands of bells rolling through the streets of the city, seemingly playing a mournful tune akin to a song sung by despairing birds. Massive volcanic rocks fell from the sky, while the spewing magma splashed onto the ruins, gathering into small rivers along the streets, as if using flames to cleanse the city. The tidal magma in the fissures swallowed more and more of the ground, with certain shattered landmasses disappearing forever into the river of magma. Soon, with the explosion of the nuclear power chamber, Takamagahara would vanish from the world forever.

The Lenin floated along the sloping foundation, its massive hull crashing through countless buildings as it rolled into the magma. The embryo did not struggle; the Lenin gradually sank after floating for a moment in the lava. A broken metal tower rolled in and smashed into its center, destroying its bridge. The intense heat burned away the fleshy layer enveloping the Lenin, exposing the hard alloy red star at its bow, which was the last part to sink. At this point, the Trieste had already moved away from the depths of the trench, and the bright river of lava in view gradually dimmed.

“Is it dead?” Lu Mingfei asked.

“Unfortunately, we couldn’t find its remains, nor do we know which primeval species it was,” Chu Zihang replied quietly. “Quick! Call the Sumeru Throne. The King’s Blaze can only be used for temporary acceleration; I can’t support it for long. Get them to activate the safety line!”

The surface of the sea was ablaze. The Yamata no Orochi opened a ten-thousand-ton cruise ship, creating a thick layer of oil on the water before igniting it. The horde of Corpse Guardians leaped in the burning sea, the flames illuminating their bodies. Although fire was not instantly lethal to them, it was enough to have an effect. The Fire Group had been completely wiped out, and the Corpse Guardians prioritized attacking the water police boats of the Fire Group. There was no effective escape plan; if the sailors did not grab the lifelines thrown down by the Wind Group, they would be doomed. Lifeboats were being shredded by the Corpse Guardians, these bloodthirsty creatures crazily devouring flesh and blood, ignoring the fact that they had no digestive capacity. But the Wind Group’s lifelines provided an opportunity for the Corpse Guardians to attack, and four helicopters had already crashed, all because the Corpse Guardians climbed onto the lifelines.

The remaining helicopters were of little use; after all, the ammunition they could carry was limited, and the Wind Group began to withdraw from the battlefield.

The Forest Group held the line because the horde of Corpse Guardians was eager to assault the Sumeru Throne of the Mountain Group. Three of the six floating platforms had already sunk, and the other two were occupied by the horde of Corpse Guardians. Only the one with Chisei and the Ganryū Research Institute remained steadfast. The horde of Corpse Guardians invaded the Sumeru Throne, and Chisei personally commanded the defense. The hunting rifles and submachine guns, originally thought to be useless, surprisingly proved very effective in this situation. Crow and Yasha protected Chisei from behind, with Yasha repeatedly using his hunting rifle to blast away the approaching Corpse Guardians, while Crow’s submachine gun and Sakura’s blade followed up with the slaughter. Chisei had discarded his sniper rifle; the weapon in his hand was the Kumogiri, which was far more effective in close combat than a sniper rifle. The strength and speed of the Corpse Guardians were even superior to the evolved Akira, but fortunately, they lacked cunning and often charged at Chisei, crashing into the edge of his blade with their extreme speed.

“The seventh wave is coming!” Miyamoto Shio shouted over the communications channel.

How many waves were left? Chisei didn’t know; he could only hold the entrance of the Ganryū Research Institute. Once the battlefield command center was destroyed, their war would be lost.

A Corpse Guardian suddenly fell from the top of the passage, instantly slashing off a person’s skull with its sharp claws. Yasha screamed as he rushed over, driving his hunting rifle into the Corpse Guardian’s eye socket and firing, blasting its brain matter everywhere.

“Come on baby! Come on baby! You are beautiful, you are lovely!” Yasha sang loudly while reloading and continuing to shoot at the Corpse Guardian’s skull.

Chisei had long known that this guy was a pervert, but at this moment, only a pervert could stand tall in this bloody battlefield.

Dying here wouldn’t be so bad; although he couldn’t sell sunscreen, it would count as fulfilling his responsibility to his family, right? He didn’t want to let down those petty gangsters and their families. He hoped that Noda Kotomi and that girl could have some real feelings for each other.

“Call the Sumeru Throne! Call the Sumeru Throne! The nuclear power chamber has ignited! Get us out! Get us out!” Lu Mingfei’s voice suddenly rang through the headphones.

“What did you say? Repeat that!” Chisei had not received any word from the sea floor for a long time; he thought the Trieste was done for.

“I’m saying we’ve got it sorted! And also… help! Help! Ah!” Lu Mingfei shouted.

“Dammit, dammit, dammit! Those lunatics got it done!” Chisei roared.

Sakura looked at him in astonishment; she had never seen Chisei so flustered.

“Activate the winch! Activate the winch! Miyamoto Shio! Pull the Trieste up!” Chisei shouted while moving forward with his blade.

“Young Master, the winch motor was damaged by the Corpse Guardians. We can’t pull them up to the surface anymore,” Miyamoto Shio replied.

“Damaged? What’s the extent of the damage? Fix it! Hurry up and fix it!” Chisei was stunned.

“The motor’s starting wheel is damaged and won’t start. We’ve already tried sending people to repair the starting wheel, but the top of the Sumeru Throne is full of Corpse Guardians, and the teams we’ve sent have been killed.”

“Tell me what to do, I’ll go!” Chisei jumped onto the engineering lift to the top.

“You can’t go, Young Master!” Miyamoto Shio exclaimed in surprise. “It’s full of Corpse Guardians up there.”

“Exactly! That’s why only I can go,” Chisei hadn’t finished speaking when he saw Yasha and Crow jump in after him. “Damn it, what are you two doing here?”
