Dragon Raja 3

“Before you came, Caesar and I had already discussed this. It’s the only solution,” Chu Zihang said. “Find an excuse to take her out tomorrow morning. At exactly 4 a.m., bring her to the dock. She trusts you, so she should agree to board the ship with you.”

“If she completely loses control, you’ll have to decide whether to neutralize her on the spot,” Caesar added.

“Are you kidding? Neutralize her on the spot?” Lu Mingfei said bitterly.

Caesar pulled out a Desert Eagle from his waist, removed a bullet from the chamber, and placed it on the table. The bullet’s tip was transparent, filled with red strands that looked like seaweed, all growing from a seed-like core.

The “seed” in the center of the bullet was a fearsome red crystal.

“An alchemical bullet. The material is high-density quartz, and the red substance inside was refined from the bones of Dragon King Constantine. This bullet is codenamed ‘Bloodburn.’ The original design was for a crossbow, but it was miniaturized for use in large-caliber handguns. It’s a pure fire-element bullet. When it hits its target, it ignites the most intense flames imaginable. Whether it’s a tank or a Dragon King, they’ll burn to ashes,” Caesar said, loading the Bloodburn back into the magazine and handing the gun to Lu Mingfei. “When you shoot, keep at least 30 meters away from her to avoid getting caught in the blast.”

Lu Mingfei held the heavy gun, stunned.

“Where did you get this bullet?” Chu Zihang asked.

“Under a secret agreement, the College is allowed to study Constantine’s bones, but the research results must be shared with the founding families on the School Board. You can guess without me saying it: the Gattuso family has benefited the most from this agreement. The family’s craftsmen used the fire-element crystals to create the Bloodburn. As far as I know, only six bullets have been produced. This one was hidden in the handle of Dictator. The family hoped I would use it for a decisive strike,” Caesar said in a low voice. “I almost used it at the Genji Heavy Industries site, but with a weapon of this magnitude, none of us would’ve survived the fire.”

“The war against the Dragon Clan isn’t even over yet, and the families have already started dividing the dragons’ inheritance? Even the Dragon Kings’ remains aren’t spared,” Chu Zihang said quietly.

“That’s politics. Wherever there are people, there’s politics. Some say the day the Black Emperor was killed was the day the war among the Hybrids began. With the greatest threat finally gone, the Hybrid families started fighting for dominance over the world,” Caesar said, puffing on a cigar and blowing out a puff of smoke. “But the affairs of the Gattuso family aren’t necessarily my affairs. When that day comes, I’m not sure which side I’ll stand on. You’d better hurry back, Lu Mingfei. Don’t let the princess get suspicious of you. Just tell her you went out to buy milk.”

Lu Mingfei stared blankly at the gun in his hand, the Desert Eagle gleaming like a mirror, reflecting a menacing light.

He shivered slightly. In the end, this was still a war. He and Erii were never truly friends. Although both were Hybrids, he leaned toward humanity, while Erii leaned toward the dragons. They were on opposing sides. Anyone stepping onto the battlefield should be prepared to use every weapon and every ounce of cruelty to kill their enemy, until their teeth broke and their nails wore down. There’s no such thing as a romantic war—the essence of war is slaughtering life.

Even if you once sat on a Ferris wheel together, overlooking Chicago… even if you stayed up all night chatting on QQ… even if you ran through the streets hand-in-hand on a rainy night… when the time comes, you’ll both grip your weapons, shout at each other with brutal fury, and the blades will gleam with blood.

“But she doesn’t know anything,” Lu Mingfei said softly.

Outside, the torrential rain poured down. He thought of the girl still sleeping on the red circular bed, waiting for him to return. She knew nothing of this cruel world.

“I’m sorry,” Caesar said quietly.

“There’s no need for apologies between scoundrels. We’re accomplices, aren’t we?” Lu Mingfei looked up at Caesar.

Caesar was slightly taken aback. At some point, the expression in this loser’s eyes had changed. There was a depth in them that he couldn’t understand.
