Dragon Raja 3; Chapter 362: We’re All Monsters (6)

Dragon Raja 3

“The initial analysis of the scene shows that a Lamborghini and a Toyota sedan collided during the chase. The Lamborghini lost control at high speed and disintegrated, causing serious casualties with its debris,” said the police commissioner responsible for security in the Ebisu Garden Place area, his tone solemn. “This unfortunate incident occurred in my jurisdiction, so I will resign to take responsibility.”

He, too, had clearly pledged loyalty to the main house and had ordered the roads leading in and out of Ebisu Garden Place to be sealed off. In his statement, there was no mention of Lu Mingfei or Erii.

“Is it really that simple, just a traffic accident? A total of 76 people died, all with fatal injuries, yet in most traffic accidents, the number of injured far exceeds the number of deaths,” the reporter asked seriously. “Isn’t it too hasty to classify this as a traffic accident?”

“There were survivors, but they weren’t on this street. They were people who flipped over in the earlier part of the chase,” the commissioner replied. “His testimony is a key reason why we classified this as a traffic accident.”

The camera switched to an interview with one of the survivors, lying on a stretcher and barely conscious. Lu Mingfei recognized him vaguely as the first rider he had rammed into the wall, breaking his leg. This man had fallen behind due to his injury and wasn’t affected by Erii’s death order, so he was lucky to escape.

“We… were racing… racing…” The survivor used almost all his strength to utter these few words.

Not far from the stretcher stood a man in a suit, his face expressionless. The injured man glanced at him instinctively as he testified. He was forcing himself to lie because the main house had completely taken control of the scene. If he didn’t testify according to their wishes, even if the doctors could save his life, the main house wouldn’t allow him to remain alive in this world. Finally, the nurse had to stop the interview, placing an oxygen mask on him and rushing him into the ambulance. Any further delay and this sole witness would have died.

“But there are many suspicious aspects to this so-called race. Isn’t it against Japan’s rule of law to believe a witness without analyzing the doubts?” The reporter pressed on.

“I’ve already resigned. My successor will provide a more detailed explanation to the media. I apologize for the inconvenience and ask for your forgiveness!” The commissioner took off his hat, bowed deeply, and left the frame.

“In this heinous incident, which claimed the lives of 76 people, the Metropolitan Police’s explanation to the media has been lacking. There has been no sufficient evidence presented and no in-depth investigation, and yet they hastily reached a conclusion. Asahi News would like to question Governor Heiji Koen about whether the Metropolitan Police Department can really ensure Tokyo’s safety with such an attitude toward the media,” the reporter said angrily. “Next, let’s hear from some other eyewitnesses…”

Lu Mingfei didn’t want to watch any more. No matter how hard the news media tried to dig into the truth, they would never reach it. This city was officially controlled by the Tokyo government, but the true ruler in the shadows was that solitary, cynical tortoise, who guarded the iron curtain of Dragon Raja secrets and allowed no one to peek behind it.

Suddenly, a large face caught his attention. It was a man in a white shirt and windblown woolen trousers. His slicked-back hair was slightly disheveled.

He snatched the microphone from the reporter’s hand, red-eyed with anger, and shouted, “The Japanese government must take responsibility! The yakuza are hunting down my nephew! You’re covering up the truth! You damned Japanese, none of you are good people! Let me tell you, China has risen! If your police don’t handle this, I’ll go to the embassy! You’ve got yourselves an international incident now! If my nephew doesn’t return home safe and sound, this won’t be over…”

The man’s overly impulsive remarks clearly displeased both the police and reporters on the scene. The microphone he had grabbed was snatched back by the reporter, and riot police dragged him away by his arms. His wife and son followed behind him, the housewife angrily hitting the police and turning her head to curse at the camera.

Tears silently fell from Lu Mingfei’s eyes as he turned off the TV.

After a year-long cold war, he had finally reconciled with the family that had raised him for six years. Even though his aunt still rolled her eyes at him and spoke to him coldly, he had been thinking about visiting them during the summer break.

But perhaps he would never return to that home again. He had gotten involved in something deadly, and now he was a monster who had sold half his soul to the devil. The only way he could show his love for them was by staying far away, cutting off all ties.

“Osho,” Caesar said, “I always suspected Chime was lying to us, but that demon-like Osho really exists.”

“He seems to have some special ability. No matter how strong his target’s bloodline is, he can inflict mental trauma,” Chu Zihang added. “His regenerative ability is even stronger than Lu Mingfei’s. He’s nearly impossible to kill.”

“Chisei, Chime, Uesugi Erii, Osho… Japan is really a breeding ground for monsters,” Caesar remarked. “We need to get the head of the Uesugi family out of Japan immediately.”

“But her condition is very unstable!” Lu Mingfei said in shock. “She seems like she could lose control at any moment, yet she’s also so weak, like she could die at any time.”

“Extreme strength and extreme weakness coexist in her. The dragon blood is both strengthening and destroying her, so she can only survive in the special medical environment the Yamata no Orochi clan created for her,” Chu Zihang explained. “But sending her back to the Yamata no Orochi now would be like handing the trigger of a deadly weapon to our enemies. If what Chime said is true, our enemy may be hidden within the Yamata no Orochi clan.”

“A container ship will leave Tokyo Port early tomorrow morning. I’ve already paid the captain, and he’ll take you and the head of the Uesugi family out of Japan. Seven days later, you’ll arrive in Fujian, where you can take her to the China branch,” Caesar said, handing a card to Lu Mingfei. “The meeting point is at Dock Seven, and the address is written on the card.”

“What if she loses control on the ship?” Lu Mingfei asked, his heart pounding with fear.

Caesar handed him a box containing small glass vials. “Propofol, a powerful surgical anesthetic. Inject her with this, and it will lower her vital signs to the minimum. She’ll sleep until you reach China. Along the way, give her glucose.”

“But she’s so weak right now!” Lu Mingfei raised his voice unconsciously. “Injecting a powerful anesthetic into someone so weak, and keeping her alive for seven days on just glucose? What if she dies?”

Caesar patted him on the shoulder. “We don’t want her to die either, but this is the most feasible solution right now. She’s a deadly weapon that could lose control at any moment. We can’t keep holding onto such a dangerous weapon, nor can we return her to the Yamata no Orochi. The only option is to send her out of Japan. It’s a bit risky, but it will also take her away from the center of this chaos in Tokyo. She’s the most unusual Hybrid we’ve encountered, and she may be linked to the awakening of the gods. Once she’s gone, we’ll have eliminated one major danger.”

Lu Mingfei’s heart skipped a beat. Lu Mingze had indeed said that Erii was one of the keys to the White Emperor’s resurrection.
