Dragon Raja 3

Mai pierced through one of the portholes as if piercing through rotten leather. She cut off a piece of granulation tissue and slipped into the Lenin.

Chisei climbed to the highest point of the Sumeru Throne. Searchlights from all directions shone upon him, as the helicopters of the Wind Group, the water police boats of the Fire Group, and the fishing boats of the Forest Group surrounded this floating platform belonging to the Mountain Group. The helicopter doors opened, and the bow was filled with young people in black clothes, all eyes turned toward Chisei. Thousands of raindrops reflected light, and the long black coats billowed as Chisei seemed to stand in a rain of light.

“Ladies and gentlemen!” he looked around. His voice traveled far over the sea, and all six floating platforms were broadcasting his words.

“Please!” He bowed deeply.

He should have delivered an inspiring speech, but suddenly he found he had nothing to say. Everything felt too heavy, almost overwhelming him. The history of the Yamata no Orochi, the sunken city that buried gods, the ambition to eliminate the Oni Clan, the ideals to end violence—all of it weighed solely on his shoulders at this moment. But this burdened flat turtle island was already very tired. Ambitions, passion, or the pursuit of power were not the reasons for his actions; he climbed forward under this heavy mountain simply because he was a burdened tortoise. That was how tortoises were; they only knew how to crawl and could not turn over to shed their burdens.

Tonight was destined to be a night of bloodshed; no one could remain uninvolved. Let it begin, the bloody winds would sweep from here to the Japanese coast.

“Hai!” Thousands bowed in unison.

The ship’s camouflage was stripped away, revealing triple-barreled rapid-fire guns, large-caliber ship-mounted machine guns, and torpedo launch tubes. The fishing boats deployed deep-water bombs in a spiral formation, designed to float at depths of 100 meters, forming a complete defensive network. They were initially designed to ambush small submarines, but now they would be used to intercept something far more dangerous. The heavy industry enterprises under the Yamata no Orochi were originally responsible for advanced weapon design and manufacturing for the Japanese Self-Defense Forces. If not fearing legal consequences, they could arm a military at any time, anywhere. These weapons were loaded with specially designed ammunition; the bullets and shells contained liquid mercury, which would release large amounts of mercury vapor upon impact. The torpedo warheads were adorned with intricate patterns, and when these alchemical warheads exploded, they would release fragments capable of cutting through dragon flesh. Chisei himself carried a heavy sniper rifle. While it wasn’t particularly lethal compared to the equipment on the helicopters and ships, he didn’t want to hide deep in the Sumeru Throne during a war from which no one could escape.

Sakura approached Chisei from behind: “A 3.2 magnitude minor earthquake has occurred in the Abyss; the divine tomb is awakening.”

“The ancestors truly have not completely perished,” Chisei said softly. “These years, they must have longed to escape the forbidden land and return to the world.”

“Such a thing is impossible,” Sakura said. “We have made complete preparations, and we have Miss Erii.”

“There’s still some time before the divine tomb rises to the surface; you should rest for a while. I’ll continue to communicate with the diving team.”

“The Norma system is continuously calling the Kaguya system, which is disguising itself as under maintenance in various ways. For a short time, Schneider won’t be able to determine what exactly happened, but he will eventually figure it out.”

“It no longer matters. After tonight, the alliance between the Yamata no Orochi and the Secret Party will end. We just need to prevent him from establishing contact with the Trieste for an hour.”

“Understood.”

“Sakura, do you remember Akira?” Chisei turned around.

Sakura looked slightly startled but quickly regained her composure, nodding slightly: “I remember.”

“If—I’m saying if—I didn’t eliminate him myself but instead ordered you to do it, could you calmly cut his throat?” Chisei lit a gentle Seven Star. “Would you be able to kill him by exploiting his trust in you?”

“I could do it,” Sakura said softly.

“How would you do it?”

“Because I trust you. Whether samurai or ninja, if they lose those they can trust and their reasons, the Way no longer exists,” Sakura said. “Trusting you is my principle.”

Chisei remained silent for a long time. “Thank you, Sakura. You can be too smart sometimes.” He reached out to pat Sakura’s head, then turned and strolled along the railing at the top of the Sumeru Throne, gazing at the rolling sea.

“The situation is too complicated! We can’t handle this; let’s have the Execution Bureau send someone more experienced!” Lu Mingfei shouted. “What exactly is underneath the ruins, and how many of them there are, we have no idea. Right now, we only have a sulfur bomb as a weapon. What good is that? I don’t even know where to aim!”

“Dammit! A sulfur bomb definitely can’t deal with so many targets!” Caesar looked at the dense red dots on the sonar.

“In this situation, the sulfur bomb is useless. The only solution is to detonate the nuclear power chamber,” Chisei said. “The family has been researching solutions to deal with the Corpse Guardians through an overseas call with Professor Schneider. At present, only a nuclear explosion can eliminate all targets.”

He said it so casually! A nuclear explosion? Is this plan really set by the Execution Bureau and not the Equipment Bureau? What do we do if there’s a nuclear explosion?” Caesar was taken aback.

“You have time to evacuate. Time is limited; listen to me. The nuclear power chamber won’t explode under normal conditions. To detonate it, we must make the neutron density exceed the threshold. In other words, we need to overheat the nuclear power chamber,” Chisei explained. “You activate the nuclear power chamber and make it overheat, then immediately ascend. I’ll use the safety cable to pull you out of the water. We can shorten the ascent to half an hour. When the nuclear power chamber explodes, you will be four kilometers away from the epicenter, giving you a significant chance of survival.”

“Aren’t we supposed to have a tsunami and an underwater earthquake when the nuclear power chamber explodes?” Lu Mingfei said. “If there’s a tsunami, what chance of survival is there? Even oil tankers can be pulled underwater by a tsunami; how could a small submersible escape?”

“It’s not that exaggerated. That’s just a small nuclear power chamber. The shockwave from its explosion on the seabed won’t even reach the surface!” Chisei insisted. “Quick! Do as I say! The control circuit of the nuclear power chamber can act as the detonation circuit. All you need to do is activate it and drop it from above! You must take this risk. If the Corpse Guardians burst out of the surface, it will be too late; they will be much faster than the submersible!”
