“Calling Diliast, calling Diliast, no seismic activity has been detected on the seafloor, and the earthquake bureau has not issued any news of a seafloor quake,” Chisei reported.

“But the ruins are shaking; if this isn’t an earthquake, then what is it?”

Chisei was silent for a few seconds. “Maybe the embryo has sensed the approaching danger and is trying to awaken. Have you experienced any mental disturbances?”

Caesar slapped himself. “I feel fine; slapping my own face hurts, so it doesn’t feel like a dream. Our team’s death dealers are still just death dealers, and idiots are still idiots; everything seems normal.”

“You have 15 minutes of oxygen left. This is a rare opportunity. The embryo should be struggling to awaken; we cannot allow it to wake up. Take this chance to eliminate it,” Chisei urged. “I just had a long-distance call with Professor Schneider. He thinks we should do everything possible to eliminate the embryo. If it wakes up this time, it will gain its freedom, and we won’t be able to hunt it easily again.”

“Does Schneider think so too? Good! No problem! This is the directive I’ve been waiting for!” Caesar secured himself tightly in his seat. “Chu Zihang, is the sulfur bomb ready?”

“The bomb has been activated; the safety pin is being removed. It can be launched in 15 seconds.”

“Lu Mingfei, prepare to ascend. The air chamber is ready to drain water; stabilize the wings; prepare the propeller system; ascend immediately after the bomb is launched!”

“Boss, slow down; I’m flipping through the manual!” Lu Mingfei nervously thumbed through the operations manual.

The shaking of the ruins intensified, and the lung snails clinging to the surface were peeling off, layer by layer, like shedding skin. The city was either collapsing or awakening, its original colors and textures about to be revealed to the people.

“Caesar… take a look at the sonar screen!” Chu Zihang’s voice sounded strange.

Caesar jerked his head around; the sonar screen was filled with a series of red dots, each pulsating. Each red dot represented a heartbeat, and countless entities were awakening—far more than just a single embryo! Initially, Caesar thought there was a giant heartbeat beneath the ruins of this city, but that was actually a misreading of the signal. Countless beings lay dormant beneath the ruins, and they all shared one heartbeat because their heartbeats were perfectly synchronized! 

“Damn it! What is this place? A dragon’s nest?” Caesar was stunned.

“Look ahead, what’s that… bloody thing?” Lu Mingfei managed to say, exerting all his strength.
