Dragon Raja 4

Saying “okay” would be easy, but the price was like tearing a bloody piece of flesh from his heart, leaving a wound that would take a long time to heal. Toyama thought Lu Mingfei might break down and cry at any moment. He had once forcibly deleted a patient’s memory of their still-living mother, and the patient had cried out for their mother in their sleep, sobbing uncontrollably. But painful cuts were sometimes necessary for true recovery. Some things had to be severed. Toyama began quietly chanting, “Yanling: Hypnos,” preparing to begin the ritual to erase Chu Zihang.

Suddenly, Lu Mingfei opened his eyes, staring coldly at Toyama. A golden ghostly fire flickered deep in his pupils, and there was a mocking smirk on his lips.

Toyama, horrified, tried to step back but found that his legs wouldn’t obey him. He couldn’t tear himself away from that terrifying gaze, even if it meant being burned alive by the ghostly fire in those eyes.

Lu Mingfei slowly stood up, speaking in a low voice. His words were like a massive pressure, as if the weight of the sky had come crashing down. Toyama involuntarily dropped to his knees, clutching his head, trembling and sobbing uncontrollably.

The giant clock on the church tower boomed, casting blood-red light over the Hall of Heroes. The campus on the mountaintop awoke in an instant—alarms were blaring. It was the alert for an invasion of the Dragons!

Lu Mingfei opened his eyes and found himself lying on a high-tech-looking bed, surrounded by various machines, his body covered in thin electrodes.

He had been confined to an isolation room—there were several such rooms at the college, used to contain hybrids who had lost control. The isolation room was located underground, surrounded by hard granite layers. Only Fenrir, the King of Earth and Mountains, could possibly break through such a chamber, and the security measures at the entrance were extremely tight.

There was someone sitting beside his bed. As soon as Lu Mingfei stirred, an alarm went off, and the person jumped up, tense like a coiled spring. It was Toyama. His forehead and arms were wrapped in bandages, and he looked exhausted, as though he hadn’t slept in a long time.

Toyama quickly checked the data on the machines and recorded them on a tablet, reassuring Lu Mingfei,

“You’re awake. That’s good.”

“Did I cause some trouble, Teacher Toyama?” Lu Mingfei asked cautiously.

“It was a pretty big deal. During hypnosis, you suddenly lost control and triggered the invasion alarm,” Toyama replied, sitting back down.

“I lost control… What did I do?”

“You opened your eyes, stood up, said two sentences to me, then lay back down and went back to sleep,”

Toyama said with a smile. “The injuries I have are self-inflicted; they have nothing to do with you.”

“Did I transform?” Lu Mingfei quickly corrected himself, “I mean, did I change in any other way? What did I say?”

“There wasn’t much of a change. You said, ‘Who dares write false words into the law? Who dares deceive the king with illusions?’” Toyama hesitated slightly, “That wasn’t your tone. It felt like someone was speaking through you.”

“I must be really messed up… I’m even spouting nonsense now, aren’t I?”

“Your memory has some strange things mixed into it. It’s my fault—I wasn’t careful enough during treatment,” Toyama said, patting him on the shoulder. “Don’t worry, we have stronger specialists in mental health. We’ll arrange a consultation for you.”

Lu Mingfei nodded, “I’m sorry, Mr. Toyama.”

“Rest for now. I’ll report to the Execution Bureau that you’ve woken up. If you need anything, just tell EVA. There’s a call button in this room.”

After Toyama left the isolation room, Lu Mingfei stared blankly at the ceiling for a long time. He knew Toyama had done his best to comfort him, but he could tell there was a serious problem.

The electrodes on his body and the equipment around him were part of a system called the “Prometheus Rack,” said to be personally designed by the vice-principal. These electrodes could monitor the intensity of his neural activity. If his excitement level exceeded the threshold, the electrodes would release a 2,000-volt high pulse to forcefully calm him down.

Not just anyone qualified to use this system—it was named after the mythological hero Prometheus. Prometheus had stolen fire for humanity, and in punishment, the king of the gods, Zeus, chained him to a cliff on Mount Caucasus with an unbreakable iron chain and drove a diamond nail into his chest. He couldn’t sleep, and his weary knees could not bend. Only when Mount Olympus collapsed would his punishment end.

Toyama likely hadn’t told him everything, and Lu Mingfei hadn’t been completely honest with Toyama either. He actually had memories of his “outburst.”

At the time, he had felt as though he was sitting with the little demon on top of a gigantic clock tower that reached both heaven and earth. Below them stretched a boundless landscape of mountains, dotted with beautiful white flowers. Thick mist flowed through the valleys like white rivers, with the soft sunlight glimmering on the misty surface, filling him with a sense of peace. The two of them sat there, legs swinging, not speaking for a long time, until suddenly, the sky darkened, and black clouds began approaching rapidly. A voice floated on the wind, saying, “Leave your friend behind. Come with me, alright?”

The little demon stood up, pointing at the dark clouds and said, “Brother, someone’s attacking our world, and they’ll kill us.”

Lu Mingfei slowly rose, pulling a Desert Eagle from beneath his coat, his expression fierce and defiant. “Anyone who dares challenge us will die!”

Toyama said those words weren’t in his usual tone, but Lu Mingfei wasn’t so sure—maybe that was his true self.

Footsteps echoed closer, and someone pushed open the door to the isolation room. This was strange. The isolation room appeared simple, but it was under EVA’s 24-hour surveillance. When Toyama had left, he’d had to scan his ID and connect with EVA for confirmation—it had been quite a process. But this person had walked straight in, bypassing all the security measures, and EVA hadn’t triggered any alarms.

The figure was tall and slender, cloaked in darkness, carrying a heavy case in his hand.
