Macallan began to move with the wind, his movements as powerful as a dragon turning in the sky.
The Yanling “Shiva’s Dance of Destruction,” No. 117, causes a massive earthquake within a wide radius—the exclusive ability of the King of Earth and Mountains. During the ME-BJ-001 incident, Fenrir, the King of Earth and Mountains, danced in his dragon form, causing the crust beneath him to twist and crack, and space itself trembled with his movements. Now, Macallan was recreating that scene in his human body. The same effect could be felt on the seafloor. Three hundred meters below the surface, the seabed trembled, and the attachments on the seamount, resembling dense forests and flower trees, fell off. Long-stored stresses deep within the rock layers were released, and massive cracks spread along the valleys. Crimson rock layers emerged from the fissures, like the spines of ancient serpents.
Macallan then chanted ancient incantations, and a raging storm tore the sea apart. A tornado rose from the seafloor, lifting vast amounts of seawater into the air, transforming into pitch-black storm clouds.
Next came the Yanling “Saha World,” where the caster forcibly imprints their own vision into the mind of the target by locking eyes with them. When cast on a single target, this technique has a terrifying name—“Senro”—the “Forest of Suffering” from the Inferno.
Despite being separated by 300 meters of seawater and countless red tide algae, Macallan could sense the eyes slowly opening on the seabed. Across the thick red water, they locked eyes, and the only message Macallan repeatedly imprinted in the creature’s mind was a single word—his own name. He knew that neither Saha World nor the illusions of Senro could trap that great being. He was simply using this Yanling to declare war, telling the creature that he had come here to kill it!
This was the true battle of kings, with the ocean as the battlefield, and every move carrying the power of heaven and earth.
Compared to this, the earlier fight between Jörmungandr and Macallan had only been a warm-up.
The creature in the deep sea finally became enraged. The seamount slowly rose, spewing out black dust pillars, and two rows of dragon-like eyes at the back of its head grew from small to large, each composed of countless hexagonal compound eyes. The Inuit legends mentioned by the sea lions were inaccurate—nothing was hidden inside the sea eye; rather, the sea eye itself was the creature’s mouth! The seamount was its enormous body, and the dense forest and flower-tree structures were merely extensions of its surface growths. It followed the rules of genetic spirals, endlessly replicating itself, consuming countless lives like coral reefs and bamboo forests, growing larger and larger until its body became as vast as a mountain.
This was the so-called planet-level life form, born from the ocean without parents. The Arctic Ocean was its womb, and every gene and organic material was its food.
It didn’t resemble any ancient dragons depicted by humans. Instead, it was a giant catfish over a hundred meters long, with coral-like growths on its back. Aside from its fearsome dragon eyes, it bore no resemblance to an intelligent being. Its form wasn’t even as majestic or beautiful as the lesser dragon it had devoured as food.
The giant beast moved through the depths of the ocean with the surging waves, its soft, fringed body creating undulating patterns. Bright electrical blades broke through the hundreds of meters of seawater, crashing onto the exposed seabed and triggering explosions. When the electric blades struck the beast’s back, even it trembled in pain.
The Spirit Speech “Indra’s Wrath,” Sequence No. 116, full name “Ancient Avatar: Indra’s Wrath,” was only granted to Yanlings considered exclusive to Dragon Kings. Hybrid species couldn’t inherit or awaken such super-tier spells. Those that shared its rank included the Bronze and Fire King’s “Candle Dragon,” the King of Earth and Mountains’ “Shiva’s Dance of Destruction,” and the White Empress’s “Oracle.”
Macallan wielded thunder as his sword, cutting through the sky and sea with abandon. Dark thunderclouds swirled above his head, and devilish tornadoes stretched down from the clouds like monstrous fingers.
At this point, his title was obvious: the one who commanded thunder and wind with such ease could only be the King of Sky and Wind.
The giant beast beneath the ocean could no longer endure the provocation. It lunged towards the struggling flood dragon, swallowing it whole before charging upwards into the dense arcs of electricity.
Macallan casually flicked his fingers, and a dense web of electric arcs formed along the creature’s path. Pearl-like ball lightning formed in large clusters before him, then shot into the sea following the paths he had set. The giant beast repeatedly charged forward, only to be driven back into the depths by the electric web and the ball lightning explosions. The sea surface, originally near freezing, began to boil under the relentless electric onslaught.
No longer making futile charges, the beast swam rapidly just below the surface, its massive body generating powerful waves. Any casual movement triggered storm surges, and a full-force charge would create tsunamis. It attempted to strike Macallan with water shockwaves, but the storm overhead remained steady. The wind pressure on the ocean surface was equivalent to hundreds of atmospheres. Even the surging waves were quickly flattened by the overwhelming air pressure.
The enormous electric blades, hundreds of meters long, vaporized vast amounts of seawater, leaving behind a conductive mist. The beast’s body was covered in wounds from the electric blades. As the attachments on its back peeled away, layers of black scales were revealed—thick, shield-like armor with ridged protrusions resembling ancient heavy infantry’s shields, but each scale was dozens of times the size of a human shield. Yet even these sturdy scales could not withstand the electric blades, and lava-colored flesh gushed from the cracks, forming reflective ribbons in the cold seawater.
Macallan had turned the entire hatchery into a trap of raging lightning. In this game of hunting “Nidhogg,” Macallan held complete control.
“Have you still not awakened your consciousness after thousands of years?” he sighed softly. “A being like you is unworthy of such an honorable name.”
He pressed his hand down again, and countless ball lightning bolts shot into the sea like artillery shells, exploding in bright flashes on the creature’s back.
Unable to endure the repeated torment, the beast flipped over and dove into the deep sea. For a creature over a hundred meters long, a sea only a few hundred meters deep was like a shallow pond.
But it soon realized the real trap lay in the deep. The water temperature far below was even colder than freezing, like a prison made of ice.
As soon as the beast entered this region, ice grids began to form around it, quickly transforming from thin ice lines into thick ice columns. The ice prison shouldn’t have been able to trap such a massive creature, but then ice-formed dragon-serpents began to unfurl from the seafloor and wrap tightly around the beast. One serpent, two, three, four… eventually, nine enormous ice-serpents emerged from the depths, breathing freezing streams of water as they solidified the porous ice prison into a solid block of ice.
This Yanling exists in the college’s database but has not been assigned a serial number. It is both powerful and strange. The user unleashes an ancient, ferocious beast called “Nine Infants” that resides deep within their consciousness, using water as a medium to manifest it. As it moves, the space it passes through first freezes and then erupts in flames, with even the ice in its domain igniting. It holds the powers of the White Empress, the Ocean and Water King, and the Bronze and Fire King, making it as dangerous as the supreme Yanling known as the “Primordial Manifestations.”
At this level, Yanling has become akin to the summoning arts of myth, blurring the boundaries between reality and legend, manifesting fantastical beings. In mere moments, the entire incubation chamber was frozen solid, with flames raging beneath the ice. The giant beast writhed in agony in the hell of water and fire but made no sound. It seemed not yet fully awakened, like a massive child, silently feeding and growing in the depths of the Arctic womb. But Macallan had prematurely awakened it, forcing it onto the battlefield. Though it had a colossal body and the strength to shake mountains and seas, it was firmly suppressed by Macallan’s supreme Yanling.
Facing Macallan, who had devoured both Fenrir and Herzog, it was as if the beast was battling several of the four great monarchs at once.
Macallan slowly raised his hand, and the thunderclouds above collapsed, forming a massive lightning ball. The Earth had never seen such a colossal sphere of lightning, perhaps only found in Jupiter’s thick atmosphere. It was white-violet, wrapped in a powerful domain, and as bright as the sun inside. All other lightning near the incubation chamber dimmed, and the raging winds stilled. Only the sounds of the beast’s struggle beneath the ice and the violent hissing from within the lightning ball echoed across the vast frozen plain.
With a wave of his hand, Macallan sent the massive lightning ball crashing down, piercing through hundreds of meters of ice, exploding and shattering everything in its path, slamming heavily onto the beast’s back. The explosive force first compressed the surrounding steam, then half a second later, burst outward as a shockwave, sending a red rain soaring skyward from the deepest part of the incubation chamber.
By then, Macallan had already flashed to the ice plain at the chamber’s edge, standing under the violent red rain with hollow, sorrowful eyes. The great creature had perished prematurely, never fully born. He was about to inherit the supreme throne and become the leader of the new gods, but it all felt meaningless to him.
What he needed at that moment was a bottle of good wine and someone to drink with, but those who were worthy of drinking with him had all been killed by his own hand along the way. Moments later, the red rain and the incoming seawater refilled the incubation chamber. A little while later, the giant beast with lava-colored blood floated to the surface. Its massive body bobbed in the water, and only its strange, catfish-like head emerged above the water. Two rows of dragon eyes, mostly blinded by the last lightning strike, stared fixedly at Macallan, flickering on and off.
