The sound of hooves crashed like thunder. The eight-legged horse Sleipnir charged forward, with Odin above, spinning his massive sword, the wind wailing like ghosts. The entire building trembled under his iron hooves—Odin’s long-awaited Wild Hunt mode had finally been activated.

“Lu Mingze, I’m willing to trade you the last quarter of my life,” Lu Mingfei said softly, “My condition is to kill Odin and leave safely with my mentor. Do you agree?”

Whether Odin lived or died didn’t really matter to him; what mattered was Nono’s safety. But he wanted to do something for Chu Zihang too. Maybe this last quarter of his life could be exchanged for something more in this world.

“Deal! Let those who see you as worthless turn to dust beneath your roar!” Lu Mingze’s voice boomed with authority, as if a legion of ironclad guards stood behind him.

Sleipnir’s hooves rumbled like thunder. Odin raised his iron sword high, approaching with burning winds. White steam spewed from the gaps in his armor.

But Nono didn’t run. She cried as she desperately tried to pull the spear from Lu Mingfei’s chest.

Lu Mingfei gently patted her head, “Mentor, I told the principal… I said I’d let go… but maybe I was just boasting… We don’t have to start, but I hope it doesn’t have to end…”

Nono stared blankly at this smiling man. He was no longer a child, nor some stray dog picked up from the street. He was a lion, his eyes filled with determination. He bared his iron teeth and copper fangs—not to devour her, but to smile at her.

A gust of wind descended from the heavens, blowing away all the floors above. The labyrinth crumbled layer by layer. The devil’s shadow appeared in the sky. He no longer wore a mischievous grin; instead, he spread his arms with the solemnity of a crucifix.

“Power Overwhelming! Immortal Body! Medieval Man! Lord of Armies! Let all who defy us perish!” Lu Mingze issued his solemn decree, as countless dragon runes flickered in his pupils.

His golden eyes burned fiercely as his immense black wings unfolded, and the pouring rain was repelled, surging back into the sky. He descended from the heavens, merging with Lu Mingfei.

The charred skin swiftly peeled away, revealing new dragon scales covering his body. His bones rapidly grew and transformed, cracking like glaciers splitting apart. His reborn heart pushed Gungnir out, inch by inch.

Sleipnir had arrived. Odin swung his massive sword down toward Nono’s head, but the black wings spread wide, and Gungnir was blasted away, forcing Odin to cut it down midair.

Sleipnir could advance no further—Lu Mingfei’s hand pressed against its chest, as easily as if he were catching a ball from Lu Mingze.

In the next moment, Lu Mingfei exerted immense force, toppling the monstrous horse to the ground. Sleipnir rolled and screeched as Lu Mingfei held a massive purple-blue heart in his hand, covered in scales, still faintly pulsing.

“Lowly creature, dare you defy the supreme?” Lu Mingfei glanced at the heart, then tossed it to the ground and crushed it under his foot.

Nono stared blankly at the towering figure before her, surrounded by lightning and fire. He was both a beast of terrifying ferocity and a dark god of immense power.

Slowly, Lu Mingfei turned around, looking down at Nono. His face was like a terrifying demon from the underworld, yet the burning eyes radiated warmth.

Memories, like seeds planted long ago, hidden deep in the soil, now flourished under the sunlight and rain.

After all these years, Nono finally saw the true god and demon beneath the waters of the Three Gorges. She remembered his childish face and the words he once said.

Back then, he held her and howled at the world, demanding it return the girl he loved. The world trembled in response to his call, and once, he had taken Nono from the bargaining table of fate. Now, he has returned again.

Nono stood there, dazed for a long time, reaching out to touch his hardened face, “It’s really you? Is it really you? Have you finally come to save me?”

How had she never understood this simple truth before? That silly monkey who always trailed behind Tang Sanzang was also a god and demon, with a past full of grinding teeth and blood, and ambitions to swallow the heavens and earth.

For a moment, the god and demon were at a loss, but then, he smiled, “It’s me. I’ve never left… No matter how many worlds there are, I choose the one where you exist!”

He raised his hand and caught Odin’s massive sword, letting out a mighty roar. The roar turned into a shockwave, and Odin had to brace himself with his sword, breaking the ground with each step he retreated.

In the next instant, both god and demon disappeared. The hallways were filled with afterimages, lightning flashing everywhere as they clashed again and again. Black and red blood splattered like ink.

They roared. They fought. This was a war between kings, and only death could bring it to an end.

The demon’s headphones still played a mournful yet gentle tune:

Finger stopped in his tracks, leaning on a streetlight, gasping for breath. Behind him, a sea of Death Servitors surged, chasing relentlessly.

No doubt about it, his fitness training had paid off—he ran like a rabbit, darting unpredictably, with the Death Servitors barely able to touch his coat. He had led them on a chase back and forth across the overpass at least three times, probably covering the distance of half a marathon. Yet, the stamina of these Death Servitors seemed limitless, while Finger, being a mere mortal, needed to rest.

Seeing him stop, the Servitors became excited. The ones with membrane wings flew around him, hovering rather than attacking, as if celebrating a successful hunt.

Finger looked at them with a grimace, feeling like a movie star stepping out to face a mob of reporters and thinking, How am I supposed to handle all these interviews?

“Come on out, lady! Are you really going to watch me get torn apart by these guys?” Finger called out, looking up at the Servitors perched on the power lines.

They resembled giant ravens, though their faces had a disturbingly human-like quality.

In the dim light, a faint black smoke seemed to dissipate in the wind. A black-clad ninja girl appeared in front of Finger—long legs, slim waist, and a hint of crimson between her brows. Two straight-edged short swords hung at her waist.

Sakatoku Mai chewed her gum and rolled her eyes at him. “How did you know I was here?”

“I’m famous for my beauty radar. If there’s a beautiful woman around, I can sense her,” Finger said, stretching his shoulders. “So many of them… think you can handle it?”

Mai unsheathed her two short swords. “There are too many of them—it might be a bit tricky. Ninja work is all about assassinations. For group battles, we’d need our stoic, yournovel.org emotionless girl.”

She slashed her blades, their light expanding in a brilliant arc. In her left hand was the Ame-no-Murakumo no Tsurugi, and in her right, the Futsu no Mitama. The flashing light from her swords made the Death Servitors hesitate, retreating a few steps.

“Well, I suppose I should help too.” Finger sighed, picking up the Murasame from where it was stuck in the ground.

The mirror-like blade of Murasame turned black as soon as it touched his hand. The sword’s aura extended far beyond its edge, and in the next moment, black flames ignited along the blade.

Mai stared in shock. “What kind of sword is that? And how did you draw it?”

She already suspected there was something off about him, but casually pulling out a sword of that magnitude? That raised a whole new level of concern.

“It’s the Blade of Hellfire Annihilation, haven’t you heard of the ‘Fiery Dragon Slayer’ and his Hellfire Annihilation Blade? You must be a little behind, girl!” Finger licked his teeth with a smirk.

With that, he leaped forward like a tiger and, with one slash, sliced through the elevated road.
