Dragon Raja 4

Lu Mingfei took a deep breath. The grand finale was coming, and he would face the most dangerous enemy of his life alone. The explosions around him were relentless, eerie wails filled the air, yet his blood surged with excitement.

He stared into his reflection in the sword’s mirror-like blade. “Lu Mingfei, don’t die! Risking your life is what you’re good at!”

Lu crouched low and launched himself into the air. The BYD smashed into the air barrier surrounding Odin, exploding violently. Shockwaves rippled across the barrier like waves.

As Lu Mingfei landed, he quickly dropped to the ground, but the shockwave still reached him. He had deliberately chosen a landing spot just five meters from the barrier. He had guessed that the air barrier would remain unstable for only a second or two. He had activated the Yanling “Don’t Die” on himself to survive the explosion. In previous runs through γ’s Spring, he had fired a rocket at the barrier and noticed Odin’s silhouette slightly distort at the moment of detonation, suggesting the barrier was disturbed by the force. This hinted that the barrier was a fluid.

Certain fluids, like asphalt and glass, appear solid due to their high viscosity but still exhibit fluid properties. Scientists had conducted a century-long experiment at Queensland University where a block of asphalt was observed slowly dripping at a rate of one drop per decade. The air barrier before Odin was a fluid with even higher viscosity and surface tension, capable of quickly regenerating. But if it absorbed a massive amount of energy in a short period, it became unstable, presenting a chance for it to be breached.

Lu Mingfei raised his sword above his head and charged toward the barrier. It was a gamble—if the barrier had already recovered, he’d be trapped inside, burned alive by the extreme heat. But if it hadn’t yet recovered, he could pierce through it, aiming to land a blow on Odin’s head.

The flames licked at him, and the barrier, as it shattered, unleashed razor-sharp turbulence that tore at his body. But the Yanling “Don’t Die” frantically repaired him as fast as he was wounded. In the less than two seconds between his leap and his landing, Lu Mingfei bled and healed, over and over.

“Desperado, why don’t you come to your senses? Open the gate, there might be storms, but after the rain, a rainbow awaits. You better let somebody love you… before it’s too late.”

Lu Mingfei roared, his spirit seemingly fused with the man who, years ago, had once slashed at a god. In this moment, his back shone as brilliantly as fireworks.

Samurai One Sword Style: Lion’s Manifestation! The same technique once used by both Chu Zihang and Gen Chisei now appeared in Lu Mingfei’s hands. A selfless, death-defying strike, with a lion’s roar embedded in the blade’s light.

At that moment, Odin finally raised his head to look at the figure in the air, seemingly in disbelief that a mere human could reach his throne and swing a sword at him.

He raised Gungnir, not to throw but to block. Murasame collided with Gungnir, cutting through it like it was rotting wood. In Norse mythology, Gungnir’s spear shaft was made from the branch of the World Tree, yet before Murasame’s blade, the sacred branch snapped with a sharp crack.

Lu Mingfei and Odin passed each other. Lu staggered a few steps forward before managing to stand. Odin remained seated on his horse.

All the Einherjar halted, turning their heads toward Odin. Even the eight-legged horse stood still, its iron hooves no longer spitting lightning.

The storm raged on, but suddenly, there was silence—like the world had just been born, and all was still.

Rain poured over Murasame, but the black blood clinging to its blade was as thick as oil. Lu Mingfei flicked the sword, and the black blood splattered onto the guardrail.

Slowly, Lu Mingfei turned to face Odin. The eight-legged horse was kneeling, and Odin’s body slumped forward on its back. A soft crack echoed as the towering god suddenly split apart, part of his body crumbling down.

Lu Mingfei was dumbstruck. He hadn’t expected his Lion’s Manifestation to be so powerful. This was a Dragon King, the strongest he had ever faced. Even Chu Tianjiao hadn’t managed to kill him. How had Lu, of all people, taken him down?

Previously, when Lu looked at Odin, all he saw were question marks. Lu Mingze had said this was because Odin was leagues above him, rendering his game-like “scan” ability useless. But now, Odin’s stats were readable, no different from those of an ordinary Death Servitor.

Lu Mingfei rushed forward, yanking off Odin’s mask. Beneath it was a grotesque, twisted face, halfway between human and serpent, devoid of any divine presence—just an ordinary Einherjar.

Panic seized Lu Mingfei. What’s going on? Is Odin a fraud? He remembered fighting the real Odin, who had unleashed the full force of his Wild Hunt, causing the heavens and earth to tremble. There was no way this imposter could have survived a clash with Chu Tianjiao. And what about Gungnir? A weapon of causality couldn’t be cut so easily—it had shattered like a walking stick!

“You’re this strong now? One slash and you take down a god?” Finger jogged over, looking unsure.

“Something’s wrong! This thing isn’t Odin! I’ve fought Odin before—this isn’t him!” Lu Mingfei was trembling slightly.

He had a sinking feeling that something had gone terribly wrong.

He suddenly grabbed Finger by the collar. “Where’s my senior? When you came out, where was she? Why didn’t she come with you?”

“She said she was going to check on Su Xiaoyan at the hospital and left in the evening. She hasn’t come back since,” Finger replied.

Lu Mingfei looked up toward the sky. The ravens were no longer circling; they had turned into black ribbons, streaming toward a distant point.

A chilling realization settled over Lu Mingfei, freezing his blood—Odin wasn’t here. This was a trap to lure them in. Odin’s real target was Nono, and he was already on his way to find her.

Right now, the god of death was riding his eight-legged steed, galloping through the city, heading straight for Chen Motong.

Fate isn’t something that can be broken so easily. When you think you’ve broken free, it only tightens its grip in another form, guiding you to the end.

The Einherjar, laughing and weeping silently, closed in from all sides, engulfing them.
