Dragon Raja; Chapter 133: The Seven Deadly Sins

Dragon Raja

Lu Mingfei and Nono struggled in the torrent, moving forward as fast as they could.

Every passage and space they went through was changing. Huge bronze components rubbed against each other, making grinding sounds. Heavy gates, towering bronze walls, massive gears, and thick shafts were all operating around them. They were like two small fish thrown into a gigantic machine.

“Wait ahead for one minute, wait for one minute. In one minute, a passage to your right will open.”

“Accelerate. The passage in front of you will disappear in twenty seconds.”

“Turn left, avoid the gate ahead!”

Norma’s commands came from the main campus of Cassell College, half a world away. After acquiring the map, the supercomputer’s efficiency was incredible; every command was clear and accurate. One small mistake from her, and Lu Mingfei and Nono could be crushed.

“You are about to reach the bottom of the Bronze City. There, you will find an exit, but thirty seconds from now, the Bronze City will be completely sealed,” Norma said.

“Where’s the exit?” Lu Mingfei looked around.

There were bronze walls on all sides. They were in a square space filled with water, and the passage through which they had entered had been sealed. The walls were shaking loudly.

“There.” Nono pointed not far away, her voice a little off.

Lu Mingfei followed the beam of his headlamp and shivered, tightening his grip on Nono’s hand.

“Is that him?” Lu Mingfei asked in a low voice.

“It’s him, though he’s become like this.”

Below them, on the bronze wall, a hideous face protruded. The living bronze had opened its mouth, revealing sharp bronze teeth that were biting onto a human arm. The man had already become a skeleton, Cassell College’s custom diving suit hanging on his bones, swaying gently in the water. The headlamp illuminated his helmet, showing two hollow eye sockets.

The name tag on his neck bore his name: Ye Sheng, Assistant Commissioner, Execution Bureau, Cassell College, ID 08203118.

They had found Ye Sheng. He had reached this place but hadn’t managed to leave.

“Did he use his own blood to open the door?” Lu Mingfei asked.

“To command the living bronze requires extremely high purity dragon blood. The ‘key’ is one example; you’re the second. If the blood purity isn’t high enough… you can still force it open by sacrificing a large amount of blood, with the consequence of bleeding to death,” Nono said quietly. “There are records of using this method to open dragon tombs. It’s forbidden in the college’s operations manual. Using great sacrifice to forcibly leverage dragon blood… this technique led to the birth of black magic in the Middle Ages.”

“I see.” Lu Mingfei sighed softly.

The two swam closer to Ye Sheng’s skeleton. Nono was silent for a moment, then reached out and gently touched Ye Sheng’s helmet.

“He doesn’t have an oxygen tank,” Lu Mingfei said.

“I see,” Nono replied. “That’s why, despite the insufficient oxygen, Aki was able to surface—Ye Sheng gave his oxygen tank to Aki, giving her a double supply of oxygen.”

Lu Mingfei nodded, “He was really cool!”

“He was always cool,” Nono said softly.

“What’s behind him?”

Behind Ye Sheng, where the oxygen tank should have been, was a rectangular box bound tightly with straps. Lu Mingfei tapped on it, and it emitted a low metallic sound.

“It should have been found along with the bronze urn, but Aki couldn’t take it alone. No matter what, let’s take it.” Nono said. “I’ll carry it.”

She removed the box from Ye Sheng and strapped it to herself.

“Lu Mingfei, Chen Motong, evacuate quickly! Evacuate quickly! Only twenty seconds left!” Norma’s voice rang out in their earpieces.

Lu Mingfei suddenly felt that something was wrong. He looked up and realized that the headlamp beam wasn’t reaching very far. Then it dawned on him—it wasn’t that the water had become murky, but rather, above them, a massive bronze wall was silently descending, like a giant hydraulic press!

“Hurry, open the door!” Nono shouted.

Lu Mingfei frantically squeezed his finger, trying to get a drop of blood into the living bronze’s mouth. But it wasn’t working—his hand had been strapped at the wrist for too long and had soaked in water, turning it pale like a dead man’s hand. Lu Mingfei pulled out his diving knife, cut off the entire glove, and squeezed his finger with all his might, but only a few drops of blood came out. His hand was trembling, and the blood dissolved into the water before it could even enter the living bronze’s mouth.

The bronze wall above was already less than a meter away. Neither of them could straighten up, and in just a few more seconds, they would be crushed.

“Cut your finger open!” Nono shouted.

“Okay… okay…” Lu Mingfei held the knife close to his finger.

It was hard to cut his own finger; his hands were trembling, and after two failed attempts, all he had were small cuts, with no significant bleeding.

Should he cut the other hand? But if he did, he would have to bind the wrist again to prevent oxygen from leaking, and his remaining oxygen wouldn’t last long.

“Stay calm, stay calm…” He repeated to himself, but his hand holding the knife kept shaking.

“Don’t be afraid!” Nono said.

“Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid…” Lu Mingfei tried to change his posture slightly, but as soon as he straightened his back, his head hit the bronze wall above.
