Dragon Raja; Chapter 12: Cassell’s Gate (10)

Dragon Raja

“I believe it,” Lu Mingfei replied. “I absolutely believe in them.”

In fact, once he let go, answering these questions wasn’t difficult at all. If there were no superpowers, then Jotaro Kujo’s “Star Platinum” wouldn’t exist, nor would Luffy’s “Gomu Gomu no Mi,” and Hiei’s “Dragon of the Darkness Flame” would also be fake. Then the main existence in the world would be his uncle’s constant talk about Montblanc watches and his aunt’s ever-increasing complaints about rising housing prices. Lu Mingfei’s future would just be waking up every morning to catch the bus to work, getting paid at the end of each month to pay the mortgage, and carefully visiting his mother-in-law’s house on weekends… if a girl would even consider marrying him.

So, in Lu Mingfei’s world, superpowers definitely had to exist.

“Hmm, why do you believe?” Aki looked at Lu Mingfei with an encouraging smile.

“Believing… is just believing, just like believing in aliens,” Lu Mingfei said.

He really couldn’t give Aki a concrete reason; he couldn’t just say, “I really like Jotaro Kujo’s ‘Star Platinum’; I hope that’s real.”

“Yeah, a boring life doesn’t need explanations,” Ye Sheng said.

Lu Mingfei was taken aback, not understanding why the examiner suddenly brought up that internet phrase.

“Maybe it’s sarcasm?” he thought.

“Now for the third question: Do you think the foundation of human existence is idealistic, based on spirit and soul, or materialistic, based on matter and body?” Aki asked.

Lu Mingfei was instantly dumbfounded.

Was the examiner at this college out of his mind? Why was there such a huge difference between the first two questions and the third? This was content from high school political science class, right? Analyzing materialism and idealism. But Lu Mingfei had completely forgotten all that after passing his exams!

His face turned red as he took a few deep breaths, thinking to himself how many people must have faltered on this question, but he had to make it through!

He let out a long breath, rolled his eyes, and stuck out his tongue.

“What does sticking out your tongue mean?” Ye Sheng glanced hesitantly at Aki.

“I don’t know,” Lu Mingfei sighed. “The question is too profound; I really can’t answer it. Can I… give up?”

Ye Sheng and Aki were silent for a moment before nodding. “Yes, thank you for your interest in Cassell College.”

Ye Sheng stood up. “I’ll show you out.”

Lu Mingfei lasted one minute and thirty seconds, setting a record for the fastest exit.

Chen Wenwen was waiting for him outside, her bag in hand. When she saw him come out, she jogged a few steps over. “Why are you out so fast?”

“I got stuck on the political question…” Lu Mingfei hung his head. “I’m not as strong as you guys; how many questions did you answer?”

“I struggled on the political question too; my answers were messy, and they said I didn’t pass,” Chen Wenwen looked down.

“You were in there for fifteen minutes!” Lu Mingfei was surprised.

“I talked about UFOs for fifteen minutes…” Chen Wenwen said softly.

“Ah?” Lu Mingfei was dumbfounded.

In an instant, a wave of joy surged in his heart, and he reached out to pat Chen Wenwen on the head. “It’s okay, it’s okay! Anyone who can pass the test set by those lunatics is also a lunatic!!”

Chen Wenwen looked up, a hint of a smile breaking through her disappointed expression. Lu Mingfei felt elated; this was the greatest reward he had received all day.

Who cares about going abroad? Chen Wenwen wasn’t going either!
