Dragon Raja

“When you reach fourth year, I’ll change it.” Mai followed the footprints toward the back of the Odin statue.

They took a deep breath and exchanged glances, their hearts pounding.

“Does your college have any strange things hidden here?” Mai asked.

“There are indeed a lot of strange things, but nothing this strange.” Caesar said. “It wasn’t you who caused this?”

Mai shook her head. “No clue whatsoever.”

“To melt through a metal door of this thickness—it would take hours even with a blowtorch, right?” Caesar squatted by the scene.

“The craftsmanship is impressive—the proportions of the figure are too accurate.” Mai said.

They realized what the “ding” sound from earlier was—it was the sound of the elevator arriving. It seemed that Norma’s communication had been cut off, and the door hadn’t opened, but there was a hole in the door—clearly melted through. The edges of the hole glowed brightly, with molten steel dripping to the floor.

The hole—it was obvious at first glance—it was… humanoid!

“Riding the elevator from the underground floor?” Mai looked at Caesar. “To melt through such an alloy, its temperature must be about as high as the surface of the sun…”

“There’s one more thing that’s unexplainable.” Caesar said in a low voice. “Before I retracted the ‘Kamaitachi,’ this person was almost here, and at that time, my focus was entirely on heartbeats. Yet I didn’t catch any unfamiliar heartbeat… If it were a person, their heart would not be beating.”

Cold sweat soaked through Mai’s undershirt. She remained silent for a long time. “Third-year, stand away from me. I need to make a phone call.”

At the college gate, a few students stood guard with guns. When they heard the roar of a motorcycle, it was already too late.

A dazzling silver light came speeding towards them—a Harley motorcycle, weaving dangerously through the line of fire, successfully dodging the bullets and cutting past them. People say Mongolians are a people born in the saddle; if that were true, then this guy must have come from a people born on motorcycle seats.

“Hallelujah! God always favors the handsome!” No. 13 shouted.

Everything had gone so smoothly. After escaping the underground, he quickly found a silver Harley. It was the bike of his dreams, and best of all, the key was still in the ignition.

The mission full of surprises had finally come to an end here. He was about to go back to collect his five million dollars and retire, roaming the world with abandon—exploring islands in the Pacific with white sands, blue seas, and legs like jade forests! No. 13 was filled with joy, glancing back and making a face. Behind him in the darkness, girls still dressed in white ceremonial dresses, one holding high heels, the other holding Uzis, were firing, but they were clearly too far behind to catch up.

Suddenly, a blinding light enveloped him from the side, along with a deafening engine roar.

“An ambush?” No. 13 was shocked.

It was too late to dodge. He jumped off the bike, relying on his excellent agility to land with several rolls, eating a mouthful of dirt before coming to a stop.

The Harley shot out in a silver streak, flying over the car’s roof, slamming into a guardrail on the roadside, and falling over the cliff.

Lu Mingfei watched the silver streak in horror, then looked at the man rolling across the road. “Oh no… my first time driving such an expensive car and I crash… Senior Sister, it really wasn’t my fault… It’s bad enough that he’s riding a motorcycle in the middle of the night, but why didn’t he have his headlights on?”

He didn’t have an American driver’s license, and he felt uneasy. Jumping out of the car, he approached the guy, rubbing his hands together, speaking in less-than-fluent English, “Are you hurt…? You… came out so suddenly.”

“Hey… What are you doing?” Lu Mingfei suddenly raised his hands.

A black gun barrel pressed from below against Lu Mingfei’s chin, and No. 13’s face was filled with rage.

“Stop him! He’s an intruder!” the pursuing students shouted.

“Were you lying in ambush for me?” No. 13 said fiercely.

“I have nothing to do with them! Absolutely nothing! I was just driving by to get a hot dog.” Lu Mingfei tried to sound cooperative.

He wasn’t sure if he could fool this “Dragon,” but the creature’s appearance was way too unexpected.

If a member of the Dragon had blue skin, horns, and catfish whiskers on his face, Lu Mingfei would have understood. But this guy looked so normal—just like Lu Mingfei himself, a regular human. He had a friendly face, black hair in a Chinese style, and a distinctive pair of droopy eyebrows… Wait, why did those eyebrows look so familiar?

Lu Mingfei’s pupils dilated. “Hey… aren’t you Lao Tang?”

No. 13 was momentarily stunned. “Your smug face… looks a lot like Big-Headed Bear…”

In the interstellar group, Lu Mingfei used a big-headed bear as his avatar. Lao Tang was Lu Mingfei’s only friend in America, aside from classmates like Nono and Finger. They had spent countless nights blowing each other up on interstellar maps. When he was interviewing for Cassell College, Lao Tang even video-called him to help correct his spoken English. Knowing Lao Tang made Lu Mingfei feel like there was still a comforting spot on the map of America—Brooklyn, New York.

How did he end up meeting Lao Tang here? And even being held at gunpoint by him? Wasn’t Lao Tang in Brooklyn, getting his welfare checks? Wasn’t he talking about taking the Greyhound to travel around America? The world seemed to turn upside down in Lu Mingfei’s mind.

“An acquaintance?” Nono, still in the car beside them, also had her hands raised.

“Lao Tang… I’m Big-Headed Bear… No, I’m Mingming… Don’t shoot… Why are you here?” Lu Mingfei said miserably. “Mingming” was his ID in the group.

“We’ll talk in the group later! Just talk in the group later! I’m only here doing a job… Now it’s done, but I’m in a hurry to leave and they won’t let me…” Lao Tang looked over Lu Mingfei’s shoulder at the Bugatti Veyron behind, then glanced up and down at Nono. “Hmm! Fiery girl! Mind lending me the car?”
