Dragon Raja 2

“You must have a lot of influence, Senior, to get Chen Wenwen to agree to have dinner.”

“I used your name, gave her a card from this place, and asked if she’d refuse. She said yes, just like that,” Chu Zihang said. “I’m not good at inviting people.”

“Do you usually ask girls out like that?” Lu Mingfei was speechless. “It’s like you’re challenging them to a fight.”

Chu Zihang nodded.

“And that works?”

Chu Zihang thought for a moment. “I don’t remember anyone refusing.”

Lu Mingfei sighed. “Alright, you win… You have no idea how crazy tonight was. Some food program reporter came to interview me, and I just bluffed my way through.”

“I called their show and told them someone had booked Aspasia for the night, with the executive chef cooking for just two people. They were curious and said they’d send someone for an interview. When this interview airs, Zhao Menghua will see it. Someone like him probably has the ‘I don’t want it, but no one else can have it either’ personality. Imagine his expression when he sees it on TV—won’t that be amusing?” Chu Zihang said.

Lu Mingfei glanced at him in surprise, thinking, You say these devious things with that stony face of yours without even a smile. It sure doesn’t look like you’re doing it for ‘amusement.’

“That’s ruthless! I respect that!” Lu Mingfei said.

The Panamera suddenly decelerated, and Chu Zihang swerved, braking sharply on the side of the airport highway.

“Hey, hey! I was just saying something stupid! It’s raining outside, Senior! You’ll catch a cold if you go out!” Lu Mingfei quickly said. Last time, he’d been inexplicably kicked out of the car and left baking in the sun for a few minutes.

Chu Zihang waved a hand dismissively. “Wait here in the car.”

Lu Mingfei paused, his gaze falling on Chu Zihang’s waist. “Crap… Senior, you’re bleeding!”

Chu Zihang’s white shirt was stained with a glaring patch of red, and only now did Lu Mingfei notice that Chu Zihang’s face was pale, almost as if covered in frost—not for the sake of looking cool, but because he was losing too much blood.

“No problem, the wound reopened,” Chu Zihang said casually.

He pushed open the car door, stepped into the pouring rain, unbuttoned his shirt, and threw it back into the car, removing the layers of gauze around his waist as well. He stood bare-chested in the rain, head lowered, letting the downpour wash over him. His abdomen was covered in blood, and the wound looked rather shocking.

“Huh? What’s with the whole wet-shirtless-show thing now? This is a highway!” Lu Mingfei was stunned. “If you really want to go for an edgy look, Senior, you could take your pants off too…”

But he soon understood why Chu Zihang was doing this. After the blood was washed away, faint white vapor began to rise, as if water was being mixed with concentrated sulfuric acid, or as if Chu Zihang’s blood was boiling oil. The water mixed with his blood splattered on the ground, leaving white spots. Lu Mingfei was dumbfounded; it reminded him of the acid-blooded monsters from Alien. He wasn’t sure if he should be proud or scream, considering he’d just been chatting and riding with this monster.

After a while, when all the blood had been washed away, Chu Zihang returned to the car. He quickly dried himself, took a fresh set of clothes from his suitcase, and changed.

“Don’t tell anyone about this; consider it repayment for the favor you did me,” Chu Zihang said in a low voice.

“No problem at all!” Lu Mingfei nodded vigorously.

“Thanks.” Chu Zihang started the Panamera. “Can I ask you something? Do you like Nono more, or Chen Wenwen?”

“Hey, Senior, can you not be so nosy when asking someone to keep a secret?” Lu Mingfei said, looking pained.

“Oh, sorry,” Chu Zihang said calmly.

The Panamera drove back into the lane. “I once read a book called ‘Shanghai Fortress’ . It said that there are 20,000 people in the world who you will fall in love with the first time you see them, but you may never meet one in your entire life.” Lu Mingfei suddenly said.

Chu Zihang was stunned: “I didn’t expect there were so many…”

“You know, back in high school, I really liked Chen Wenwen. If she liked me back, I probably wouldn’t have come to Cassell College to slay dragons. I wouldn’t have met Nono either. To be honest, now I like Nono, but I still feel like I’m just crushing, just like when I liked Chen Wenwen.” Lu Mingfei lowered his head. “Who I like doesn’t matter, right? The problem is, who would like me?”

“You’re the only S-Rank among us, you shouldn’t think like that,” Chu Zihang replied.

“You guys always say S-Rank is amazing, but I just don’t feel it. You didn’t even bother taking me with you on missions,” Lu Mingfei grumbled.

“That’s because you don’t have enough experience yet. This world is ours, but eventually, it will be yours,” Chu Zihang said quietly. “One day, you will replace Caesar and me on the battlefield.”

Lu Mingfei’s imagination immediately ran wild—he imagined himself replacing Chu Zihang, facing that emotionless girl. She gestures, and a blazing firestorm as intense as a burning red lotus engulfs the three realms. He, as an S-Rank, also gestures… nothing happens, and all he can say is, “Hello, have you eaten?” Then the inferno sweeps over him, leaving a charred silhouette in the rubble, with just two pitiful eyes blinking. It did sound kind of cute, though.

“Do you really think my bloodline is S-Rank, Senior?”

“I don’t know, I haven’t seen any of the advantages yet,” Chu Zihang said bluntly.

Lu Mingfei sighed. “It’s not like I don’t want to become powerful. I used to daydream during class, imagining myself being cool one day. Like when the teacher is teaching English grammar, and suddenly a beautiful girl comes in speaking fluent American English, saying, ‘Sorry to disturb you, but Sir Lu Mingfei, there’s an urgent call from headquarters. If you don’t take it, North America is going to sink.’ Then I would take the phone and talk in flawless French, and from then on, the teacher wouldn’t dare punish me by making me copy vocabulary.” He laughed at himself. “But that version of me isn’t me. It’s someone else who has nothing to do with me.”

Chu Zihang glanced at him. “What kind of person do you think you are?”

“Probably just someone who likes to sleep in and play games, daydreams and has random thoughts, reads magazines for free at the newsstand, and likes a girl for three years without daring to confess… I know this kind of person is boring. But that’s who I am,” Lu Mingfei hesitated for a moment. “You know, Senior, when I first walked into Aspasia, I was thrilled, thinking if Chen Wenwen might like me because I saved her and took her out for such an expensive meal, it would be so awesome. I was thinking about how I would respond.”
