Dragon Raja

“Maybe he doesn’t have any dragon blood, which is why he’s not afraid of Chu Zihang’s golden eyes.”

“His biggest talent is competitive games? What a ridiculous talent!”

“Hey! Why not open up a bet then? Anyone willing to bet that Lu Mingfei will fail the 3E tomorrow?” A comment from Finger, marked as an admin, brought a surge of excitement. This senior who had failed to graduate for years was a popular figure on the Cassell College network, running the news channel and always managing to create some buzz.

“I think there’ll be few betting he’ll pass, so I’ll set a good example. I’ll bet $100 that he’ll pass!” Finger started a poll.

“Finger, are you going to gamble your chance to pay off your credit card debt on your roommate?” someone mocked.

The bets on “No” side quickly skyrocketed, surpassing $20,000, while “Yes” side still had only Finger’s $100. By that night, Lu Mingfei’s background information had been dug up—poor high school grades, never had a girlfriend because no one liked him, poor sense of direction, his only skill being video games, and dozens of piracy fines by customs. Any way you looked at it, he seemed like a loser, definitely not the kind of pure-blooded, potential-laden S-Rank student the rumors made him out to be.

“Doesn’t anyone have any gambling spirit?” Finger complained in the comments. “You guys are no fun. You’ll only win my $100 at this rate. The odds for Lu Mingfei passing are now 1 to 130!”

“I bet $500 that Lu Mingfei will pass the exam,” a user named “Muramasa” commented.

The forum instantly went silent—that was Chu Zihang’s ID, which rarely appeared on the forum. The silent president of the Lionheart Society, known as a “super A-Rank,” wasn’t fond of lengthy discussions. Yet he made an exception, betting $500 that Lu Mingfei would pass the exam.

“I’ll bet $5,000,” commented the user “Dictador.”

“Caesar!” someone exclaimed in the comments.

“I’m betting that Lu Mingfei won’t pass the exam.” After Caesar said that, he logged off, leaving behind a temporarily frozen forum.

Another competition seemed to be quietly starting. If natural enemies truly existed in the world, then Caesar and Chu Zihang must be. In students’ memories, these two had never agreed on anything. But today, there was finally one thing—they both acknowledged the result after the Day of Liberty ended unexpectedly with two shots from the new student.

Would they admit to losing to a nobody, giving up the year-long use of Norton Hall and the right to pursue any girl in the college without being rejected? The students felt that these two were being a bit too gracious. Of course, neither of them needed to worry about the problem of rejection: Chu Zihang, silent and introverted, was still single and seemed quite indifferent to women, while Caesar already had the renowned Nono.

Caesar lay back on the sofa in Amber Hall’s lounge, holding a wireless keyboard, watching the bets on the huge projection screen go up step by step. After logging out of “Dictador,” he logged back in with the ID “Sonic,” which remained inconspicuously in the corner of the online list, not saying a word.

Nono, holding a cup of iced coffee, leaned against the wall behind him, “You’re really paying attention to Lu Mingfei, huh?”

“Yeah. Whether or not he’ll pass the 3E exam tomorrow—I can’t be sure.” Caesar admitted frankly, “I’m betting he won’t. It’s just that I never bet on the same side as Chu Zihang.”

“I know, $5,000 doesn’t mean anything to you.” Nono put down her coffee and picked up her bag. “I’m leaving. I have Professor Manstein’s class this semester, so I need to study. Call me if you need anything.”

“You’re going to study in that tiny dorm room with Susie? Isn’t it cramped? Besides, she shot you just this morning… She’ll do anything for Chu Zihang.” Caesar reached out as if trying to stop Nono, “You could stay here. Amber Hall is even more comfortable than Norton Hall.”

At the door, Nono turned and rolled her eyes at Caesar.

Caesar quickly raised his hands in a gesture of innocence, “I mean… guest rooms! I have lots of guest rooms!”

“What I dislike most about you is renting a villa on campus. Don’t you find it empty?” Nono frowned. “I also don’t like your Bugatti Veyron.”

“Well, at least I lost it today.” Caesar shrugged.

“Oh, good for you.” Nono walked out, closing the door behind her. Caesar ran his fingers through his golden hair, his face revealing a helpless expression.

“Three minutes left until the betting closes! If you haven’t placed your bets, do it now. All bets must be transferred to my account before the 3E exam tomorrow, or they will be considered invalid,” Finger announced. He was curled up on a sofa in the common room of Dorm 1, hugging his laptop, fingers typing rapidly. A dozen students stood around him, their expressions serious, eyes fixed on the screen.

“Listen, there are 42,500 bets on Lu Mingfei failing the 3E exam, and only 600 bets on passing the exam. The winner will share all the bets placed by the losers in proportion. I need you to lend me 10,000 now, and bet on Lu Mingfei at the last second! This way we can win at least 40,000! I will give each of you double the amount.

If you lend me money, it will be doubled tomorrow morning! This is absolutely inside information, and it is a great opportunity that will never come back again if you lose it!”

The students looked at each other, and then at Finger’s laptop screen. The amount of money they bet on Lu Mingfei not passing was still rising rapidly, and in just a few dozen seconds it was approaching 50,000.

“These people…even if they win they can only share the 600, why are they betting so actively?” someone wondered.

“Is it because of some jealousy and panic? They hope that Lu Mingfei will suffer a lot… He is a man who has the right to pursue a girl without being rejected. Wouldn’t you want to kick him out of the academy?” Another person answered, “But judging from the appearance of your girlfriend, you shouldn’t mind this…”

“Hey! Hey! Gentlemen, please be a professional. Let me ask you again, can I raise the 10,000?” Finger interrupted them.

“But you already owe us a lot of money…”

“Sir, use your business acumen. It’s like you invested in a company, but the company is not doing well and is about to close, and you can’t get your investment back. But suddenly a big opportunity comes. As long as you inject some more funds, the company can turn losses into profits. What reason do you have not to increase your investment?” Finger argued.

“Are you sure? Your roommate looks like a loser… He was so scared that he didn’t even dare to go out to the bathroom. Will something happen to him if you don’t stay in the room to watch over him?”

“If you lose, your debt will be as high as 50,000… If it’s a gangster loan shark, you will probably be hacked to death, right?”

“It doesn’t matter,” Finkel shrugged, “We are all educated people.”
